There are romours that sony may drop the price of the PS2 in Japan sometime this year.... Will europe follow suit?
Who knows!

One way or the other, people can get this magnificent machine (PS2, duh!) at a much more reasonable price.

My memory may be a bit creaky here, but wasn't one PSOne £299 at launch in the UK? I got mine just over a year later for £189. Whether that has any relevance though, is debatable.

So far, it seems that the Japanese won't buy X-Box (too big for them, apparently), and X-Box isn't due to be released in the UK until 2002.

GameCube may or may not appear late this year.

So Sony may not feel the need to drop the UK price until early 2002, though I'd still put money on October/November this year - even if it's only £50.

Then, when release dates for X-Box/GameCube are confirmed, it may drop by at least another £50.

one would imagine the ps2 will drop in price after christmas to provide stiffer competition for the other 2 machines released then. a similar marketing strategy to sega upon release of ps2
