Everyone loves pre-season friendlies...right? You get to see your team play against the lower league boys for cheap and you sometimes get the chance to meet up with the players.

Like when Gianluca Vialli said hello to me (indirectly, heh) and Zola came running in front of me after scoring down at Kings Meadow as Chelsea beat Kingstonians in the traditional pre-season match.

So, is anyone here going to any of these pre-season friendlies? I'll have a full list of the matches when I can find them, and we can erm, predict or something.

I'm going to see my team Wycombe Wanderers face Tottenham on July 19th and West Ham shortly afterwards. It'll cost me £24 for the two matches, plus however much travelling I have to do from London to High Wycombe. Still, worth it without a doubt.

Can't really wait to see the traditional matches, gunna try and go to Kingstonians versus Chelsea this year, as I've been for the past three years. Only costs a £5 to get in and £1 to get there from where I live, so that's cool.

Main question of this post is:

Is anyone here going to any pre-season friendlies?

Serious discussion please.

I have the Scotland - Germany match to go to, which should be good, even though we'll get humped.

Dunstable Town? Jeez. They're probably only being promoted because George Best played a few games for them in 1984.

Ashford Town played Brentford in the FA Cup (we got quite far) when we were in the Combined Counties about 7 years ago. We lost 3-1, but got our highest attendance ever.

Oh, and not to mention Ashford getting promotion from the Combined Counties after winning it 6 years on the trot and then straight away getting promotion to the Ryman Division Two and then straight away getting promotion to the Ryman One South. Hoho.

LOTS of Ryman league changes for next season, team wise. I'll post it here.

------------------------------------------

New Sign Post

Thanks to the hard work of Andy Fitzsimons, Ashford Town now has a new road sign pointing the way to the ground from the A30, coming from Ashford Hospital. The sign is apparently one of the largest football road signs in the country, spelling out the Club's name in full, including the full version of the word Middlesex. (WHOOOOOO)

Photos of the sign along with Bob Parker and Alan Constable doing some enthusiastic pointing down Short Lane were taken on Thursday and, again, thanks to Andy, there should be some sort of article in the Non-League Paper in the next couple of weeks or so.

**************

Div 1 South Constitution 2003-04

Subject to ratification at the Ryman League AGM on 16 June, details of next season's constitution have been received today. In Division 1 South, we lose Carshalton Athletic and Bognor Regis Town, both promoted to the Premier Division, and Chertsey Town (Another local team, I hate them), relegated to Division 2.

In their places come Hampton & Richmond Borough (my other local team, who I happen to hate), relegated from the Premier Division plus Marlow and Slough Town, both transferred from Division 1 North.

There will be two new Clubs in the League next season, namely Kettering Town, relegated from the Conference and Dunstable Town, promoted from the Spartan S. Midlands League.

This could go up to three, were Withdean 2000 FC (Ashford Town 7-0 Withdean 2000; Combined Counties 2001) to win their appeal to the FA about the League's decision not to accept them into the Ryman League.

I love preseason friendlies- once Dorking (my local Ryman Division 2 team) played Brentford, and got whipped. Got in for nothing, because I was a kid at the time. Good laugh to see a load of ameteurs outplayed.

Don't know who Villa will be playing, but if there are any matches such as Villa Vs Walsall, then I'll probably go.

I'm glad we never entered the Inter-toto cup, as it looks like it ruins the rest of your season.

Villa will now have 3 derby matches next season, and could of had 4 if WBA stopped up.
