Just a quick question about WinXP and its storage of old versions of HTML files.

Whenever I update any Web Pages stored locally, and attemtp to view them again, I am always given an older version of it. Even after I've clicked the Refresh button a number of times.

I've gone to the 'clear history' and 'clear internet files' options, epty them, yet still the old file is dispalyed.

Its not just HTML files either, PHP files do the same, outputting older versions of the file.

Does anyone know what might be the cause of such activity??

Annoying thing about XP - it remembers all this crap, but then it can't seem to remember what funking view I choose for my control panel!

Could try going to internet options then temperary files and selecting the bit under "check for newer versions of stored pages"
select the "on every visit to the page" box

The Shift/Control doens't seem to work.

I thought XP would have at least had the upper hand over 98 when it comes to this, especially as I'd never had this kind of problem with Windows 98.

Win98 has absolutely loads of different places that it stores stuff.

Two temp internet folders, about 15 cookies folders.

It's just stupid.

If you try manually finding the folders too, a lot of the time 98 doesn't seem to empty them completely.

Just to get this straight - the web pages you are viewing are on your own PC? If you're viewing pages you've uploaded somewhere else, you might be falling foul of transparent proxies between you and the target caching data. If the pages are on your home PC, that is indeed odd behaviour. Try holding shift when you refresh (or perhaps control, can't remember).
