Has anybody ever used their scroll lock for anything other than playing around with the related LED whilst bored?

What was it for originally?

&

Does anyone know of ANY programs (games or Apps) which use it for any reason at all?

Usually in Excel, it determines whether the selected cell moves with the arrow keys, or if the entire screen scrolls with them.

Usually best left off, as it is annoying.

Conflict Freespace used it to transfer energy from weapons to shields. Very useful indeed.

Scroll lock: see the number pad... scroll lock let's u use page up/down and home keys on it... now most keyboards have separate buttons for them.

Break: Used in things like old DOS programs to stop them running... useless!

Pause: Pause old DOS programs

F1 to F12 - Obselite keys that are useless coz no one remembers what each one does!

There are so many useless things on keyboards now!

But if they weren't there, it would look a bit crappy.

Indeed, num lock has now tken over... scroll lock is from the days when keys had a million different functions.

(Ok... so that doesn't answer the question at all!)

Scroll lock is there to balance the keyboard. Without it, when you picked the keyboard up it would lean to the left.

It is also a handy space filler between the Print Scrn, which is used to print and scrns that might appear on your PC and Pause break, which is to pause your computer when it is about to break.

Then why not change the name from Scroll Lock to...

Quake3/UT Launcher...
Instant MASH maker...
Nuclear Weapons Launch...
Give Frankenstein Life...

Ive got no scrolls... and if I did, I certainly wouldnt want to lock them...

-- I hope life isn't a big joke, because I don't get it.
