And Ive noticed that my opions about games are based not soley on their marits but on the merits of games I've played several years before...
Now... whenever I go back to the older games I've pretty much always found them more than slightly wanting in comparison to their current release counterparts...
So I suppose I'm grabbing my opinion from the emotional responce... the fun... I had playing the original game...
As a result the new games have to be SO much more impressive/innoveative... or I have to be in either a good/nostagic mood to like the game... which surely isnt fair to the title?
Equally since Dune/Warcraft was written.. should that mean that all no other games within the RTS genre be written, in case someone thinks thet they are rehasing the genre?
Should newer gamers only be able to play the same game types by playing titles written 3+ years ago?
Alternativly should newer gamers opions be held into greater account... Even though its easier to brush them off without much thought...

I have been playing `video` games for in excess of 30 years now, right from the beggining you could say when all a game consisted of was two paddles and a square dot flying around a black screen, but I can still remember that as great fun. What a development it was when I got my first computer, a 48k Sinclair Spectrum. I remember thinking `How do they do that` just like the (old) tv programme. Imagine how I felt when I powered up my shiny new Commadore Amiga, still one of the best platforms in my opinion, and it still works, then on and up to a PC, Playstation, and my latest PS2. I`d be the first to admit that I`m addicted to commputer games, but what is the next platform going to be, and the one after that, I`m almost jealous of my 10 year old daugter, what will it be when she`s my age. As for the `old` games, (who remembers Cosmic Guerillas) they where good in there day, much like an old record, you don`t play it every day, but it`s nice to know it`s there if you want to. I try not to compare new games with old, basically if it`s good fun, then I`ll play it, and it dosen`t have to have dazzling graphics to be good fun. Roll on Virtual Reality!
So todays games are up against the games I thought that I played, and nothing tends to beat them!
