Fernando Alonso has taken the most crucial pole position of the season with a stunning new lap record time of 1m17.113s. Verstappen will also have a clear track in front of him and will be looking to get into the first corner first from 2nd on the grid.
The chasing pack in the Championship will be delighted to see Trulli only qualify 20th on the hardest track to overtake. There wasn't that many retirements last year so I would say that he has his work cut out. Villeneuve could be leading the Championship at the end of the race after a good 4th on the grid. Firman needs 2 points to tie with Trulli at the top of the Championship and has a good chance from 9th.
Alonso takes pole although it was very close. Verstappen is looking for his first career win from 2nd. Montoya will be wanting a Championship revival from 3rd. Villeneuve will be delighted with 4th. Wilson continues his stunning qualifying performances with 5th place. De La Rosa could close the gap at the top with 6th. Coulthard and Panis round out the top 8 with 7th and 8th respectively.
If it rains, this race becomes totally unpredictable. 78 laps should make it a car breaker but with only 3 retirements last year, the signs do not look good for the runners at the back.

On a side note, what do you think of the layout here? Would you like the team they drive for as well? Do you want the gap in brackets as shown here?
I'm always after an improvement in service so that everyone can enjoy what I'm doing here all the more. Let me now what you think of the current product I'm offering and if there are certain things that you would like to see or want changed, just tell me. You cannot ask for your driver to be higher up though. That has nothing to do with me! :D
> I'll let you have you way in qualifying...but come the actual race,
> Foreman will whoo all your ásses and go on to win the race.
I totally agree with you
=D
For example:
Panis (Foreman)
(I wonder if that worked)
Test:
8th Panis (Foreman) 1m17.311s (+0.198s)
9th Firman (DW) 1m17.313s (+0.200s)
If this turns out okay, try using this. Leaving 3 spaces by using Alt 0160.
3rd.
My best position this season in qualifying.
Better than any of my race positions as well.
Good one.
