Clear this one up for me, in the first film he wanted access codes for xion so he couold kill everyone, thus having himself turned off, yes? Then why in the second film, upon facing deletion did he go rouge and hide in the Matrix? can someone clear that one up for me?
He was also confused as he had lost his purpose on becoming free of the matrix. I don't know what the cheeky agent smith that got into Zion is up to though.

He wanted the access codes for zion so that his purpose would be fulfilled and he would no longer be bound by the matrix. After neo "killed" him he was free from the matrix, he was awakened to the taste of power and he is now on a mission to become the most powerful thing in the matrix. Without the matrix he has no power.
