My subscription to Live expired a week or so ago and whilst checking my e-mail, I saw a link that sold 13 months for £27 with the code e-mailed to you with in 5 minutes.
Sounded a bit odd, found out that they bought in bulk and as it was abroad, they didn't have to pay VAT, passing on most of the saving on to the customer.
Checking out the testamonials I thought I'd give it a try - it was also PayPal verified and thought I'd have the protection if it went wrong.
So I bought a code. "Your code will be e-mailed to you in 5 minutes" it said. I went to claim the code from my inbox and unfortunately had to wait 24 hours to ensure payment was sent to as an anti-fraud prevention. Annoyed, I accepted it as a neccessary thing. It was also £3 more expensive than advertised...
24 hours later, I received my code. Entered it onto my account and found out that it had been already used. Annoyed, I e-mailed them back and said they had to wait 2-4 working days for them to investigate what happened and to find a solution.
Meanwhile I am without a gold account...
Well, today, after constant bombardment and the threat of a paypal claim, they refunded my money with a bit of sarcastic comment.
Just throwing it out there to avoid the tempting offer...I know I will in the future.
There was that feeling that something would go wrong when I bought it - then looking at the basic site (click here) it even looks a bit shoddy.
I wonder if they'll accept my comments as a testimonial :p
I've heard the ones on Play.com are better, but I'd still be unsure of using this method even if it saves a lot of money.
Mine's due early next month and I've had my reminder email from MS. I just hope I can find some money for it otherwise I might have to stay on a silver account for a while...
