After the Celtic game the other night, I heard an interesting idea from a viewer on SkySports News the very-next morning regarding the whole situation of picking the right-ref's for the right-games...

Clearly, the guy in-charge of the Cup Final wasn't the right choice!
Too-inexperienced, and not ready to punish footballer's for 'ONLY' time-wasting!

The idea was to introduce a kind League Table-system, which would, presumabley, envolve every proffesional refferee from around Europe, with their positions altered by the number of points they recieve, per-game - just like with the real clubs in the Premiership (for example).

The referees on better form, making all the RIGHT descisions, with more points, would be sat towards the top-of-the-league; with the under-performing 'tards making bad-descisions - like so many of them, today - rotting away at the bottom, like Sunderland.

And when it comes to deciding who should be in-charge at the next UEFA Cup Final, for example, all UEFA would have to do is look towards the top of the league, and perhaps choose the man currently in second-place (with the chart-topper doing the Champions' League, a week later).

I don't know about you, but I reckon this system would work-out reall well.
One League Table could be introduced for every league and competition. Although, selecting officials for league games would be a bit harder...

But would this leave too-many ref's at the wrong end of the table?
Just look at how they've been performing on a regular basis...!

What do you think?
Got any other ideas??
