Using Outlook, I've just received a bunch of e-mails from an address using the name '[email protected]' (though presumably not that address). Some had the title 'cool screensave', some had 'my details'.

Norton AV picked up on them as I received them. When it offered to quarantine stuff I accepted, then I deleted all the offending e-mails.

Did I do the right thing? Is there anything else I need to do to make sure my computer's 'safe'? (I'm off to run a full scan in a second).

Also, is this a virus doing the rounds? Anyone know anything about it?

I got that too. But it was sent to my Hotmail address, and didn't have an attachment, so it didn't bother me, except for the frustration of wasting my time reading it when it was nothing.

Sounds like you did the right thing. Having Norton scan all incomming email should stop all known viruses from geting through. Also doing a full system scan is worth it every few weeks, as well as keeping topped up with the updates. Also look at getting Norton Firewall or if you have XP enable the built in Firewall. Firewalls are very useful and give you that extra bit of protection against people trying to find away into your computer or upload something without you knowing.

Just to be sure, do a scan of your temporary internet files. I had a virus in there, commonly known as the Klez.

Nasty stuff.

Delete the emails and don't open the attachments.

These viruses have been affecting loads of people...

I would have guessed that you'll be fine as long as you don't open the files.

I got that too. I opened it, as it was 1k, and there was no attachment. So, I deleted it.
