I have several sites hosted at Freeola and all have been satisfactorily verified by Google using the "Upload an html file" method.
I upgraded one of my sites to VIP status and have since discovered that the site is no longer verified. I have uploaded the index file again, and the html file as well, but Google steadfastly claims I cannot be verified as the site owner. I tried again, using the meta tag method, and uploaded the index file, but Google says it cannot see the meta tag, which is definitely in the correct place (the head).
Has anyone else moved up to VIP status and checked that their site is still verified by Google, please?
I can add that the site in question authenticates cleanly with Yahoo, also that the site behaves perfectly, and also produces a "Page not found" screen when I type in a url for a non-existent page on the site.

Any clues any one please, or any one with the same experience?

Thanks.

I notice there is a new Directory for my site on the Freeola server called "Private" which I knew nothing about. It contained "index.html" and "index.php". I uploaded the google verification file and my index.htm file into that new Directory, and tried to reverify. This time it worked and my website was successfully verified. I then removed both of the newly-uploaded files, and it still shows as verified - how very odd. Looks like a case of needing to try again later and see if it still remains verified.

Hmmm..

Where Google says "I have uploaded my file and I can see my page" there is a hyperlink. i have clicked on that hyperlink, and, yes, I do see my uploaded Verification File. The url is proecclesia.com and you can view the source code under "View" and "Page_source" as you know, from which you will see that the meta tag is within the header section as required.
Have a look by all means.

I haven't got any VIP sites - I just use Freeola's normal hosting where Google validation all works fine.

In Google's Webmaster Tools when you specify your validation page I think it gives you a link to click to check the page is in place, does this work or do you get an error?

Are you able to give links to either the web page validation method and/or your meta tag page so people can take a look?

The coolest ISP ever!
In my opinion, the ISP is the best I have ever used. They guarantee 'first time connection - everytime', which they have never let me down on.
Many thanks!!
Registered my website with Freeola Sites on Tuesday. Now have full and comprehensive Google coverage for my site. Great stuff!!
