The 10 players being released are:
Di Canio
Bowyer
Gary Breen
Eduoard Cisse - who has been on loan for a year -
Clive Delaney,
Izzie Iriekpen,
Scott Minto
John Moncur
Raimond van der Gouw
Nigel Winterburn

I'm hoping that the next Villa manger will go after Bowyer, as we really need to strengthen out midfield area.

I'm not sure whether Di Canio will go to another club, or if he will retire from football altogher. He did say last year that he'd love to end his career in Italy, which would mean that he is unlikely to stay in England.

Ive heard that Bowyer has already signed for Newcastle...

A 5 year deal apparently... soon to be announced by both West Ham and Newcastle.

I wish that they'd got rid of Repka too, though he did make some effort over the last few games. Breen never really recaptured his World Cup form and I can't say that any of the other players released will be missed (apart from Bowyer who obviously had the potential to become a potent signing).

If we can keep hold of the core players then we should be in a position to bounce back. However there are a few teams with money to spend this summer and Defoe, Cole, Carrick, James and Sinclair must be tempting targets.

Di Canio said that whether he leaves West Ham in the Summer, or not, he would still remain a fan of the 'ammers, for life.

I won't be too surprised to see him back in the Premiership next season, though. Portsmouth could well be the favourties to get him, after having just come-up, with Harry Redknapp in-charge.

I was surprised to see them let Gary Breen go, though.
Can't really see why he would 'have' to be released?

And Ezomo Iriekpen - who's been "one-for-the-future" for about 5-years, now! But where's Adam Newton?? I was sure he was gonna be big when I saw him a play in the FA Youth Cup Final a few years back, but I haven't seen him since. I know he went on-loan to Portsmouth, but is he still at Upton Park?? This could be the season for him!

Lee Bowyer could be on his way to Newcastle, also.

More like Man United, who need someone better than scoreophobic Forlan.

BOWYER FOR VILLA?
Lee Bowyer could turn up at Aston Villa this summer if David O’Leary becomes manager at Villa Park, says the Daily Mirror. Bowyer was released by West Ham this week and his old mate David could be his saviour. He is currently one of the favourites to take over from Graham Taylor in the Midlands.

Di Canio said he was retiring this season but he will stay with West Ham at heart.

Bowyer will go to Pompey.

For David James, playing in the first division isn't that bad- 2002-03 West Ham played about 40-odd games. 2003-04 they'll probably do around 50. That'll help build up stamina for most of the players. And several players have represented England whilst NOT in the premiership- under Sir Bobby Robson, Steve Bull got 14 caps, whilst playing in the old Second division with Wolves. and they'll still have Cole, Lomas and Kanoute. Like Leicester, I think they'll bounce right back. The Foxes had Ian Walker, who has now resurrected his England career with a good year. I tell you, the Hammers will be back.
