I'm fiddling about with my site at the moment and I want to be able to get a few little things working using PHP.

All I want is a basic script that allows information that is submitted through a text box to appear on the site.

When I say basic I mean basic as in monkey_man's old chat scripts he used to have on his site.

Anybody know of any basic tutorials that could explain how to do this?

I've got a feint idea of what to do, just not how to do it!

Thanks.

That's exactly what I thought I would have to do, good.

Just, well Freeola doesn't seem to allow files to be remotely created. So if I do a+ to create a new file, it just throws an error...

If I can CHMOD the whole site to read/write/execute then I wouldn't have to problem...

Unless I create all the files from within a sub-directory....

Hmmmm.

Good idea there.

I'm a genius!

... soory, I ment coutn how many files there are ... then add one to that value for the next name.i.e.

1.htm
2.htm
3.htm

so the next would be

4.htm

... see if you can do a 'file listings' script.
... then use this to generate a random name (like 0001.html).
... check the file with that name doens't exist, if it does, generate another one.
... then, create the file with the data

OK, while I'm here, I'll ask my big question.

This is gonna be quite a sod to get working, if it's possible that is!

Ahem.

I'll ask what I want done and not how I think it's done as I'll only confuse everyone!

Basically, I want to be able to add say a story or something to a page, but each time I add something new, it creates it in a new page.

So for example, if I want to add a little story, I'd goto the text box and submit it. It will then be created in a brand new file so that I can link to it as a whole page.

I can't really explain it very well...

Instead of the text being saved to an existing file, how can I create a file and have the text placed within a new file? That's better!

... a quick guess.

Try adding style="width: 100%" within the tag.

I've just learn how to use the ?page=something tags.

Makes it a whole lot easier than designing an individual page for each one.

Anyway;

My question, a basic HTML one this time.

How can I get a text box to be as wide as the screen. As in width="100%" but that won't work with a text box.

IS there a way of like adding a tag to it or something? Or just specifying the width to be 100%?

Thanks.
