Hi and thanks for all the help!
I know about instant pro we have been using it for a while now but we need to get a database online, we can stumble about in frontpage enough to put a page together to create something to hyperlink to from our instant pro site, but we could do with an idiots guide as to how to use rest of it to display the database using myphp ? we have signed up for vip hosting and myphp.

1. use this sort of database table (Access?)
2. stick your database here
3. do this that and the other with myphp?????
4. use this sample code to link to your database as an interface in your HTML code (somekind of search box for partcode or description)

it cant be that difficult for such clever chappies as you guys can it?
I know us limpin swamp donkeys are really stuck so please can you help? and please moderator dont send me to another posting like yesterday i know you were only trying to help but it might as well have been in chinese!
Best regards to you all and thanks for all your help

Rather than learning how to code PHP and MySQL, it'd probably be much better and save a lot more time if you were to install a CMS (content management system).

No-one can really explain to you how to create your system, because nobody knows anything about it or what you want to achieve. You can connect to a database, but first you need data in the database and then you need to know what information you want to display and how you want to display it.

Try a CMS such as Joomla (http://www.joomla.org/), or Drupal (http://drupal.org/) or for more of a bloggin system, try WordPress (http://wordpress.com/).

You just need to upload the files provided and open the installation file for any of these systems. From there, you can begin building your site without even (really) having to look at the database at all.

Hope that helps...

If you did want to learn PHP and MySQL, though - http://php.net http://mysql.com/ :)

Edit: Oh and also, you can't use Access/ASP on PHP/MySQL servers - it's either one or the other. PHP is best.
