And here's a list of all the progs I'm running when connected to the net.

Any idea lads? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
P.S. I'm not going to resort to using a firewall, as I never had to before this started happening!

No problem.

Lots of other interesting stuff on that site too.

Not really. Your IP is only like your home address. You want something you get it delivered to your house by giving out your address. You don't keep broadcasting your address to everyone who may deliver you something. Well I think thats how it works. As otherwise the internet would be flooded.
This problem as Tom as stated does seem like a Messenger service problem. If you know the commands you can send messages to people over a network, we use to do it at school all the time until it was disabled.
Don't know if that helps.
I also found this in a google groups search:
Disable the messenger and alerter services and avoid this new spam medium
completely! Find these services here:
Start --> Settings --> Control panel --> Administrative Tools --> Services
However, I can't remember how :0)
Send them a mail asking how to get rid of their message.
Don't worry to much about broadcasting an IP though, as your suppose to to use the net.
However, don't completly rule out a firewall, its a good little investment to stop those "back doors" on your computer from being acessed.
I've had 5 attempts already that I know of since installing Norton Firewall, and now I've got Pipex looking into one of their own customers, so if it helps stop people from hacking into your machine ... it can only be a good thing?
