We have an old stock system that outputs a CSV file, we then have a CSV convertor than can create a file from this CSV that MS Access can read as a database file and display into a table, my question is how can i get this database to be visible / intergrate with mysql @ freeola?
We have an instant pro website & have upgraded to VIP webhosting and added msql but really dont know what to do is there and easy way to display the contents of my stock database on my web site
Thanks Pete
In responce to ecelles,
I know about instant pro we have been using it for a while now but we need to get a database online, we can stumble about in frontpage enough to put a page together to create something to hyperlink to from our instant pro site, but we could do with an idiots guide as to how to use rest of it to dispaly the database using myphp ?
1. use this sort of database table (Access?)
2. stick your database here
3. do this that and the other with myphp?????
4. use this sample code to link to your database as an interface in your HTML code (somekind of search box for partcode or description)
it cant be that difficult for such clever chappies as you guys can it?
I know us limpin swamp donkeys are really stuck so please can you help? and please moderator dont send me to another posting like yesterday i know you were only trying to help but it might as well have been in chinese!
Best regards to you all and thanks for all your help
InstantPro and VIP hosting are 2 separate products.
InstantPro is designed to be an easy way for people to create a website that do not wish to know how to write all the code that is required to make a website work. All you need to do is supply the content (text and images).
VIP hosting is for people who wish to write their own websites (including the code) or have a web designer do it for them and require the advanced features and ability to edit the site anywhere that our VIP service offers. You can also added MySQL to the VIP service to allow your site to interact with a database.
Do you wish to setup your own website without having to learn how to write the necessary code or do you know how to write your site and you simply want to add details of stock from a database to it?
InstantPro does not support retrieving data from databases and cannot be used with our MySQL service.
VIP hosting does support databases using the MySQL database engine. You can import data to the MySQL database for s CSV file using the online database management software called phpMyAdmin, which is link to from the VIP MySQL page of your MyFreeola account.
If all of this confuses you then please let us know and we'll try and explain it better!
