Got another very annoying problem which started ever since I got broadband about 5/6 months ago.

Not all the time, but most of the time when anyone on my computer is using the internet, the speed completely stops. Not slows down, just stops.

Strange though, because it's just the IE that stops. Kazaa and any other programs like that to do with the net work fine. It's just the pages that stop loading.

I noticed a while ago that each time it does it, an error comes up like that familiar "You have performed an illegal opperation" box. Except, it says Nisserv. But I never read the whole lot. Does anyone?!

I think Nisserv has got something to do with Norton Internet Security.

But I want to know is, how do I stop my internet slowing down?!!
Is there some sort of update to do with Norton Security?
Anyone else had this problem?

Heh. I hate installing/uninstalling.

I originally installed NIS and NAV last friday, and upgraded to XP on saturday. Little did I know that it actually modifies itself according to your OS.

That meant to installations and one uninstallation in under 24 hours. Let alone the 80+ minutes it took to install XP!

Yup, it is NIS. I did a quick search on Norton.com and found this:

Hope it helps.

I installed NIS a couple of days ago, no such problems. I had to do a couple of live updates though.

Click on NIS and then click Live updates. That will tell you need to update or not.

As for Nisserv, it could be NIS Server or something along those lines. Have you tried searching microsoft.com? They might have something on it.
