"Oh, and Somalia AND iraq are on George Bush's shopping list. Great one George, leave a mess in Afghanistan and move on to Iraq, you'll get a lot of support from the resistance that your father abandoned" - misterhappy

"And I promise you it will not stop at bin Laden.
It will move into Iraq, Somalia and Persia within a year.
An empty, pointless excuse to invade and install pro-US governments under the guise of "Operation Enduring Freedom". - Goatboy.

It was so much better before Belldandy came.

Forgive me if I read that incorrectly, Bell, but are you saying people don't want aid?

I don't think it required great foresight to see that Iraq was on the list post 9/11, state of the union and Bush's address to the UN made that a certainty....but anyway...

We may have won the war in Iraq but the peace is becoming a mess of diplomacy, military units in tasks they should never be doing, international competition, competing NGO's and media.

Blame America, blame us, blame the countries trying to block the removal of sanctions against Iraq purely on political pointscoring grounds, blame anyone. Doesn't make a bit of difference and I doubt the Iraqi people care.

To me, one of the biggest examples of pure idiocy were the NGO's who refused to work in Iraq until they could be guaranteed safe areas of work where they'd need no protection. A country with that many firearms, and they want total safety.

The coalition offers military escorts to all of them. "Sorry, we don't want to be associated with you, we're independent."

People are dying whilst aid sits in warehouses. "Sorry, we can't be associated with the coalition, we're independent. see ?"

Absolutely excellent, hardly any aid went into Iraq in the early days following the fall of Baghdad because certain NGO's were worried about their image.

Like it or not, the parts of the world needing aid are likely to be dangerous in the future. We don't need social workers with aid, we need organisations that get aid to those who need it, no matter how. In the case of Iraq I doubt those who the aid could have got to, with military escorts, would have cared one bit.

Dec 2001 that was written.
Freaky, it's almost like the future was predicted using the past as a role-model (Iran/El Salvador/Guatamala etc).

Mystic Meg or weary cynic recognising the retarded invasions under the name of "freedom"
And Bell, wait until they've restored hospitals to a useable state instead of protecting oil wells before you try and tell me it's in their best interests.
Get water and power into Basra, get medicines in to treat Cholera outbreaks before we shine justice torches up each others butts ok?
Ask why their little General Franks has been removed and replaced with "high level diplomatic staff"
Ask why the Iraqi Opposition Party, the only legally recognised alternative to Hussein has not been consulted at all on the interim or replacement government suggestions.

The only thing we've done in the name of freedom is bomb the hell out of that place and we still don't have Hussein.
Same as we still dont have Bin Laden
Same as Mugabe runs riot
Same as the 1970's to 1980's.
CIA overthrows The Shah and installs their puppet, Pro-US leader. The Ayatollah comes along and seizes control of Iran. Reagan arms and supplies Hussein to fight Iran and prevent the spread of hardline Muslim fundamentalist rule througout the region. Reagan then supplies Iran in the "arms for hostages" furore (anyone else remember this??). Ayatollah becomes pro-US to an extent, now Hussein is the bad man.
Did the same ****ing thing in Afghanistan, training, funding and arming The Taliban to combat Russian involvement, only when Russia collapsed, suddenly these fanatical extremists are bad guys now.

*waves hand and walks off*
What's the point...Bush gets his little sandbox, Blair brings his shovel and they both dig for pennies whilst bigger kids stop the crying babies from playing in their pit.
