I've noticed a few threads on the subject. My advice is for what its worth is get yourself a cheap chinese made dvd player in the region of £50-70. There is a decent mediatek chipset available now which does everything well and is dirt cheap. Its the core of most dvd players at the budget end. A good example of such a dvd player is the Cyberhome 400 series (400, 402, 405). They give an excellent high resolution image through scart rgb. There are many other players based on this chipset too. My mother has a Prism DV-302 player. It came with 14 films and cost £54.99 from safeway.

When you want a film on dvd go to;

www.dvdpricecheck.co.uk

find the cheapest source and also use the region compare links to find out which is the best version, region 1, 2 or 4.

These dvd players can playback region 1 dvds in their native ntsc format or convert to pal if you have an older television.

They also play all vcd/svcd/mp3 formats well on any media with the possible exception of dvd+r.

If you want to find the hack for your dvd player or what it is capable of go to;

www.dvdrhelp.com

and look on the left side for links.

Hope the information is useful.

By the way dvd players with this chipset have a hack which starts 1369, left, left, left, right.
