The Dreamcast promised some great things on 'the first console to have a modem'. However the only real success that they have had has been with the addictive game 'Chu Chu rocket'. However this is not the greatest game in the world and as you will agree if you have played it, it is very annoying.
So when do you think we will get the on-line playing ability that everybody wants. The kinds of games that I think you will agree that everybody wants are games with;
i. Good graphics
ii. Good playability
iii. A built in chat room (For on-line challenges)
So what games could provide such an ideal environment?
Maybe the game that comes closest to the "ideal game" like above is Westwood’s 'Command and Conquer - Red Alert'. This provides great graphics and a well designed on-line chat room where people from all over the world can challenge each other to battles, it has the possibility for up to 8 players in one game. Also maybe one of the games other strong points is the ability to form your 'clan', this is where you get a group of friends or team mates and take on other teams on the web.
So why oh why cant the games companies produce games such as - Tony Hawks - Gran Turismo - Fifa 2001 and other EA sports games?
Games like Gran Turismo should have the ability for a user to go on-line and race someone the other side of the world!
I thought that it may just be possible that one games console in the future could have some kind of ultimate on-line gaming facility.

Then surly the possibility of playing Fifa online with 22 other people is just one of the single most greatest ideas ever.
This type of game will surly sell millions and millions. The gaming market is sitting on this money making scheme and I am just wondering when someone or some company is going to unleash the full capability of the web and make a lot of money.
Before anyone starts then I can see that there is the problem of servers and Internet charges. However surly the telephone and the gaming companies can get together and see that they can make a lot of money via monthly subscriptions instead of phone charges and also the extra revenue from the ability for the games to go on-line to pay for the servers.
So maybe just maybe one day the games company and the phone companies can get together and see that there is a massive market for on-line gaming.
