I've just been bought a new keyboard and Drawing Tablet for my birthday and they both support USB. I currently have my scanner in one of two USB ports on my computer and my external CD-RW is in the other. Can anyone tell me if this piece of hardware will solve my problems. I want to be able to connect all my USB devices up and this seems to be a healthy solution.
Is this device any good? Can anyone suggest any alternatives?

If you need the ports just run the keyboard in PS/2. There are no real advantages to running keyboards on USB except for convinience. Just use the PS/2 connector.
They will both solve your problem but they aren't USB 2.0, which may or may not be a problem. USB 2.0 is faster than USB 1.1, but I think you can mix and match hubs/controllers/devices of any speed and they will work as fast as the slowest link in the chain.
