Before you post, yes I am trying hard to win a game (I havn't got many :(!) What does 'DONATED!' mean? As for a good post, I'll attempt to write a review on Jedi Power Battles...

STAR WARS: JEDI POWER BATTLES

Jedi Power Battles is basically a run around whack-em game, but with an Episode I theme. Cast your mind back to the old-as-good-wine 'Super Star Wars'. Well, this is sorta like that, except not as great as it. In order to throw in some variety, LucasArts has introduced weapon power-ups, combo moves, Force powers and platform jumping. Playing in either one- to two-player modes, you fight the droids (robots) of the evil Trade Federation, take on a few asassins, and eventually go head-to-head with the tattoed Darth Maul.

The 'lock on' mode is a little annoying, especially when you are in the heat of battle. Sometimes you lock onto an enemy and other times, you lock onto the space next to him, giving the droid a cheap free shot at you.

These controls don't exactly ruin the game, What really pees me off is if you swing, and miss, you won’t be swinging again until the previous animation has been completed.

Jumping, now that is a problem. Its hard to figure out how far you need to leap to not... uh... die, but it is fun enough not to make JPB a downfall.

So why do I love Jedi Power Battles so much? Every Jedi has his / her own combo moves, and each one on their own is great looking, and gives you the feel of playing as a real Jedi. But the combo moves are tough to pull off because of problems with the animation. When you manage to do one, they look really cool and slice the enemies quite nicely. Another great thing is you can reflect laser blasts back to their target with your lightsaber. If you time, and aim, a block perfectly, the blast will ricochet back to the enemies, sometimes destroying them in one hit (if you block at the last mili-second). Also, some of the lightsaber power-ups are swwweeeeeetttt! :) :) A single power-up makes the saber powerful enough to obliterate an army in one swipe. :)

While running through the levels, pretty much all the objects in the background can be destroyed and some will give you points. Everyone has the knack for destroying stuff, and this game gives that chance to bash all sorts of stuff, living or not. The only disappointing thing about this is Jar Jar. When Jar Jar is standing right next to you, he is the only thing you can’t damage. If you were able to slice his guts open, Jedi Power Battles would win game of the year.

Playing the game with a second player is much more fun, so make sure you have 2 controllers. I don't know how they managed it, but the game (with all of it's complicated in-game movies) actually 'works' better with two Jedi side-by-side, Qui Gon & Obi Wan style. While doing this, you will learn the precious concept of teamwork especially when you are doing those complicated jumps!

There are some good things about the graphics. There are some great-lookin' special effects. When you slice an enemy with a lightsaber, the electricity in the air glows and sparkles.

Star Wars would not be Star Wars without the (kick-a$$) classic score of John Williams! The same thing can be said about a game based on Star Wars: If the music isn’t based on the films, the game just doesn’t feel right. Well, every music track in the game is taken directly from the movie soundtrack, and it sounds excellent because of it. The Ben-Burtt sound effects come directly from the movie too.

Overall:

With glitches galore, I really love this game because you can DO IT. You can live as a Jedi and dice things from the Phantom Menace!

I have no idea what explantation means. However, it may be something to do with a place that was originally for growing plants, but not any more.

As for the review, look at the rules for Gameaday, where it says that you should put reviews on the review boards. It was a good review, but in the wrong place. Anyway, I hope you win, but I recommend putting it elsewhere.

Donated:
Read the topic "Discussion", where Meka_Dragon gives a very good explantation of what it means. (The Dragon itself has donated in the past)
