It's been reported seveal times from within the utd camp that failing to win anything for two consecutive seasons would be 'unacceptable', and Keane has said that failure to do so would almost certainly mean big changes over the summer - we've already had plenty of rumors surrounding Beckham and Giggs, as well as doubts over Barthez' future at the club.

Looking at the season in perspective now, it hasn't exactly been a disiaster, has it?

Reached the last eight in Europe yet again, got to the final of the worthington cup, and won the Premiership.

So is it likely that we'll still see a reshuffle? Do we still need one?

I suspect there will still be a few changes myself. I'd be suprised if we had the same first choice keeper next season, and I have my doubts that Beckham will be around either - though I'd hate to see him go.

All we really need to do is ditch Barthez and bring in another striker or two...

Yes, but he has one of the best records in the Premiership- of all of the shots blasted at him, he saves 78%. Better than quite a few keepers. But he isn't as bad as Russel Hoult- great @ Derby, poor @ West Brom.

Yes he made a couple of great saves against Turkey, that reflex save when the ball was heading for the top corner was a good one, however he spilled the ball on countless occasions and almost cost us a goal when he spilled it and just managed to get the ball back before the turkish striker could pounce on it.
Having the ball bobbling around the United 6 yard box every time someone takes a shot is not something i want to worry about and i'm sure neither do Ferdinand and co.

David James has rapidly improved in the past few years. It's only the fact that West Ham Utd have a bad defence, which shows him up- he played perfectly for England aginst Turkey with Gary Neville, Rio Ferdinand, Ashley Cole and Sol Campbell in front of him. they didn't get in his way, and made some great saves.

Calamity James? I'd rather not have a bigger clown in goal then the one we already have. Rustu, Robinson and maybe Niemi are all goalies i'd like to see inbetween the Old Trafford sticks before him.

I just hope Fergie actually goes about it the right way this time and buys before selling so we don't end up like we had with the Stam situation. He sells our best defender and then couldn't bring anyone in except for Laurent *if you can run faster than a snail you can get by me* Blanc as all the major teams in Europe suddenly decided their defenders weren't for sale.
By all means sell Barthez and maybe Beckham but make sure you buy in replacements first before letting them go.

I think that, if West Ham United are relegated, this could well happen:

United sign Defoe for about £4m, and James for about £6m.
Barthez is sold to a team in the French league, for about £4m.

I think there are two certainties for this summer:

1 - Barthez is gone. He sealed his fate with the first goal for Real at Old Trafford. Whether we will buy in a new keeper (lot of talk about Robinson, but now Leeds are safe I'm not sure) or stick with what we've got, I'm not sure.

2 - A second striker. Ole has been magnificent this season, but seems to be being used more as a wide striker, a bit like Arsenal use Wiltord. I think we'll get Kluivert, but maybe Fergie will surprise us all.

On top of that there are a couple of other possibles. Don't be surprised to see O'Shea start to play in midfield more next season. He's already being groomed as the next Keane.

I think Wes will take over at right-back permanently from the start of next season (let's hope Mr. Beckham gives him some crossing training!). So that probably means one extra defender, most likely left-sided.

As for midfield, if we get Kluivert, and as long as Becks stays, I'd be surprised if he changes too much. When you look at the Real game, we played the first without Veron, our best midfielder in Europe all season, and he blatently wasn't fit for the return game, when we were also without our form player - Scholes. I wouldn't be surprised if they just nabbed Quaresmo, and then started bringing Richardson and Fletcher through a bit more to give the others a kick up the backside!

Well, yes.

Having just seen Fergie's interview, he strongly wants to win the CL again and will be his main target next season.

If so, the we need to strengthen our squad.

I don't think selling is the answer, we need a decent striker (Kewell anyone?)
and we need a quality right back because Gary Neville is not up to it.

Ronaldinho / Quaresma / Escude would be welcome additions.

Whether they will come or not that will be the case is another story.

For now, I will get Pised!

I think there will always be changes, you cannot afford to stand still at this level.

I think prices are going down and Utd have the funds to buy players at a fraction of what they would have cost 12 or 18 months ago. The squad is too small and hopefully there will not be many leaving at the end of the season. Barthez is out of favour, Beckham might leave, Keane has maybe one more season in him and Van Nist needs a partner, so Utd will be buying in the off season for another tilt at the Champions League.
