Which books would make good games, or already have?
The Hobbit and Lord of The Rings were games years ago, text based adventures, I believe, but imagine what could be done with those stories and characters on the next generation machines?
Any book that was going to become a game would have to be pretty non-linear, else you'll know exactly what to do, and what to expect. I guess that the main genre that any book would create would have to be an RPG, because they are so story driven, but I guess other types of games could be based on books too. Maybe some of Stephen King's books would translate into decent survival horror games?
So are there any books that you'd like to see make the book to game jump?
Any of Rankins Bretford books!...
But I'm still hoping to see Alan Titchmashes book of gardening turned into the worlds most exciting game, that includes Mr Titmarsh!

Humm. Isn't Trial and Punishment being made into a game?
(No. That's Sin and Punishment.)
Oh yeah.
Anyway, I thought Michael Barrymore was Lord of the Rings?
(Crude crude crude crude crude... You sicken me. There was no need for that.)
Oh shut up, I'm having a laugh.
I suppose that books don't get talked about as much as films by the general public, but as soon as the book becomes a film there is much more demand for a game based on it. Games of films are much easier to develop for than books.
Interesting idea about Stephen King based games, but most of his stories are character based and rely on a slow build up before springing the suprise, so I don't know if it could literally follow the book's path. I mean, if a Res evil style game was like this it would be just a character wondering around interacting with people until near the middle of the game when you'd find out how everyone was getting affected by an evil force of some kind, then finding a way to stop it. A bit like playing Shenmue for half the game then finding it turning into Resident Evil!
Wouldn't mind seeing the Stand as a game though.
They were cool! (Or they were 7 years ago when they were pop. in my school)
I used to read those all the time!
But you're thinking of books being turned into games!
That usually happens anyway now!
Books get turned into films which get turned into games!
