With the arrival of games like Final Fantasy XI, which will be available only on the internet, what will be future of the humble data disk?

Companies would love Internet only games...
It could seriously dampen piracy... but also given them control what you play, for how long, when it stops and how much you pay!
Even worse, since all software is licensed... they could change the license so that you pay 10 pounds a month to play as with UO/verquest/etc... but for single player games ... e.g A tenner a month to play Deus Ex 2?!?

I do think you have a point but I still think that people will want to play on their own and all I don't think that internet gaming will overtake but it will increase especially with the new announcement of the PS3 and its amazing abilities...
