I was reading the ISS Evolution Pro 2 review one day after playing Fifa 99. Then I watched Liverpool V Crystal Palace (go u reds) After the game I began thinking about glimpses of skill in games. This came into my head again as I watched Kanoute dazzle the Man U fans and players.

I don't know about you, but I cannot think of a good football game that lets you demonstrate skill as shown by Kanoute. OK so Fifa 2000 has that shoulder button skill move, but I though it would be good if (like WWF Smackdown 2's create a taunt) ISS Evol 2 or Fifa 2001 could have a create a skill option.

OK so it sounds wierd, but I really think it would work.....on a future console that is. Basically I thought you could assign individual players different moves (like a fighting game or something). You scroll through an UPDATED list of Premiership teams and select West Ham. Then you select Kanoute and can alter his running, shooting etc (I don't mean his attributes....I mean the way he actually shoots - does he slice it, curl it, does he almost fall as he shoots in certain situations.) Anyway you select 'Create a skill' and then you choose the scenario

eg Running down the wing, trapped at the corner, back to goal etc

Once you've selected the scenario you see the player as he is. Then you can change the direction he is looking in, his feet position etc. Then you choose from menus

eg. If he is running down the wing you can assign 'drag back' to the L1 button (or the equivalent). BUT if you don't like the default tricks.......make your own!

I it like this (but how it could work on a system...I don't know) basically the button you hold indicates the part of the body you want moving.

Eg if you want to change a player's feet you hold X and move the d-pad until the foot is positioned correctly. This way you can move the individual body parts and recreate those magical moments you saw on Match of the Day as Giggs once again stunned the defense.

Imagine it you design your own Cryff turn and then assign it to a shoulder button. Then as you're legging it down the wing with Kanoute, press L1 or whatever and he confuses the chasing defender with a flick up followed by a drag back as the ball lands.

OK so you may think I'm insane, but I really want to be able to make players act like their real life counterparts!

.....PS

does anybody know if ISS Evol 2 has the real Premiership in it???

R U agreeing with me then or what?

Fifa 2000 has not got the right mix - I mean that flick over the head thing.......always works and defenders never block it!

Of course FIFA carries the most crafty skills in a football game. Instead of having a dash button the player would speed up himself, you could press R1 or C down and he would do a little shimmy.
One press of a button is all you need, no practice no combos just that and you'll play just like Kanoute or Kanu.
It's good though the people making the games, love football, they play football, they watch every league in the world and they learn.
There's a wealthy amount of skills, all coming from the most skillful country Brazil.
If Championship Manager would use something like that with graphics just like lthe real thing i wouldn't mind playing all the updates, if you could see all your players huffing and puffing, and spinning past the defender.
