1. I got it to work fine. Setup everything correctly and it was detecting both PCs on the same network, in network neigborhood.
2. I decided that i wanted to sahre an internet connection between the two, so i went to Add/remove programs , Window setup and then selected the option to share an internet connection.
Now it doesn't work at all!
Each computer detects itself and the the Workgroup. But not the other system.
what is the problem?
The laptop has a PCMCIA card 10/100MPs Fast Ethernet
The desktop 10/100MPS Fast ethernet
The cable is an 8 mater cat.5 UTP crossover cable.
I'm really fed up as i had it working at one point :(
any ideas?
these are found in the network neighbourhood properties:
TCP/IP protocols (installed for both systems)
IPX protocols (installed for both systems)
Set the frame type to 802.3 (in IPX properties for both systems)
Client for Microsoft Networks (installed for both systems)
Enable File and Print Sharing (installed for both systems)
Dial up adapter (for the system that has a modem and uses the net)
this should work, good luck
