I have a superfast internet provider. Last night I played on the PS3 online. Today I cannot. The wire is not the problem, for the PS3 knows there is one in there. The provider dosen't seem to be the problem because I am online talking to you on my laptop.
However, when I go on the test connection option, it times out. It says the ip address couldnt be found.
But I use a MAC address to register my online devices with my internet provider. I've checked this and it is correct.
Now and again when I go on the 'settings and connections list' an ip address does come up but with (private network) after it. This number changes every time I go on the connection list.

It is possible that if your ISP has changed any information to do with your account, then you may need to create a new session. This can be done by powering down your router/modem for about 3/4 minutes. I know this is relevant to ADSL but not sure about other connection types, i would imagine it would be similar.
You could also try setting up a static IP address for your PS3, which i know you can do through the network configuration.
Sounds more like the security settings. Odd that they might have changed though.
