Sony Japan announced today that they've been forced to slash their profit forecast in half because of on going PlayStation 2 delays. The news comes at the end of a troubled week for the gaming industry in which developers Eidos and Rage both also issued profit warnings - and promptly blamed the difficult PS2 launch.
The company, who's results for the third fiscal quarter fell to $620 million compared to $800 for the same period last year, are spinning in the wake of PS2 production shortages and rising losses for their games division. Sony shares slumped almost 10 percent after the announcement, and they've fallen 45 percent since the launch of the PlayStation 2. Ouch.
