Why the hell does it now contain an anti-war page???
Has this sort of thing been reported anywhere else that anyone knows of, or could this be a simple error??
I've contacted the host of my site ... as of yet, no reply.

It wasn't caused by someone hacking individual accounts and uploading files - they exploited a loophole on the server and modified all the index files to their crappy anti-war ones.
That's one reason why Freeola is pretty good.
There's no real way that you can connect to them without using their ISP!

My Bargain Host site has had the same thing happen to it. Bargain Host is possibly the worst host on the net so it's not really a big suprise!
There is some information on their helpdesk thing:

Server two went down due to a hardware problem on the 14/04/03 and was expected to be back online on the 15/04/03.The hardware problem has been fixed and now requires a fresh install of redhat linux,we have contacted a software engineer who will have the server up and running sometime on the afternoon of the 16/04/03.
We're sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.

Yes, it is. But it also gets ignored a lot as it's hard to prove who did it.

ok, the offending file is now hijack.html
