With last summer’s big money signing of Diouf proving to be a slight faux-pa so far on the Frenchman’s part, Liverpool have just not created or converted as many chances as you would expect.
With Babbel still being not quite himself and with Berger and Smicer not playing at their best, Liverpool just haven’t had the pace and creativity that they used to in Macca’s hey day.
Houllier is reportedly set to solve both problems whilst taking advantage of the inevitable player exodus from struggling Fulham.
His targets are; the unhappy impressive young French winger Steed Malbranque and right back Steve Finnan. The pair is apparently to set the Red’s back around £7 mil, but Liverpool aren’t the only club interested in Steed. Fulham have reported that they have received inquiries from both English clubs and French clubs and that it’s to early for any decisions to be made.

I think Malbranque is a good player, but a very good prospect. It's just a case of if he would fit into the team.

I think Gerrard Houllier might be taking one step back by signing those pair. They are good players, but surely Liverpool should be going after bigger named players than those.
