Another spree:

Unreal Championship 2
Cold Fear
Doom 3 Special Edition
CT Special Forces (after much hunting)
Shenmue II
NARC
4MB Cube mem card

All for the price of 2 full-priced games.

Not too shabby. :)

Impressions to follow.

Started CT Special Forces today, great stuff! The demo was just the first mission of the game and it really is just the tip of the iceberg!

The 2nd character you get to play (not featured in the demo) is more of a Solid Snake type of character. Didn't realise in the demo but you can hide behind boxes and corners with an ingenious lean system that lets you fire whilst covered. It's difficult to explain how this works, it's like a more freeflowing version of the covering and fireing found in Winback on the N64.

You get ratings at the end of levels on a Gold, Silver, Bronze medal system which earns you upgrades for your characters (more shield, more firepower etc). There also appears to be a higher medal (platinum?) but I've yet to unlock any of those yet.

Definite replay value.

The sky-diving/aerial combat sections are absolute genius too! Also quite difficlut to explain but you're given a lot of control and have to speed down to the ground whilst fending of terrorists. The idea is laughably silly but the execution is excellent, stylish and above all: fun.

I found it really clunky with the fixed camera and the fixed first-person view for shooting.

After playing Thief 2 and Splinter Cell it really seemed lacking.

I personally loved combat in MGS2, especially on extreme where the duck in duck out fighting really came out. There's nothing like moving from station to station down a corridor of a big tanker.

CT Special Forces isn't trying to be Chaos Theory.

It's more like MGS2 but with the shooting bits actually being fun and not completely crap. Remember the AI in MGS2? It was hardly outstanding.

I like the way you get 30 rockets and things with grenade launchers, which is just fun, so there's no worrying about ammo restrictions and you can just go round making the ragdoll physics earn their keep. It's obviously not taking itself seriously and has stolen LOADS from everywhere, which is precisely why I found the demo loads of fun along with all the ridiculously OTT fighting.

I didn't get on with Unreal Championship 2 at all, the guns are rubbish and the melee combat doesn't feel right.

Also that CT Special Forces is damn awful. I love the way you can hear the guards shouting things like "get some cover, he's coming round the corner, flank and attack" and then you come around the corner and they're all looking in the wrong direction and certainly not giving each other cover.

Some of the stupidest AI I've ever seen.

I read some reviews that said it was stupidly fun.

Considering how much fun I got out of True Crime's city I thought it would be worth a go.

It only cost me 7 quid too. :)

Not a bad list, I thought, until I got to NARC.

Cheap or not, why did you pick this game?

I despised UC2. Really supremely hated it.

Cold Fear's good fun.

I picked up Pro Evo 4 and Chronicles of Riddick yesterday for £20.

Unreal Championship 2 is a fantastic game on live. So easy to get into and have a quick bash.

Didn't really get on so well with Doom 3 though...
