Warnock launches attack on Graham Poll. Claims ref's are untouchable, over protected, never held accountable.
FA respond by looking into potential disciplinary action against Warnock.
How much of a joke is that?
I don't actually believe that Poll made any serious errors, apart from colliding with Sheffield's midfielder. He shouldn't have been in the way of the play, and as daft as it makes him look, it *was* purely accidental and there's nothing he could do within the laws of the game to compensate for it.
But I see no reason why Warnock should be disciplined. He has an opinion on the referee, and should be allowed to voice it. This attitude of "you can't criticise our officials" is ridiculous. Many referees are sub-standard, and if they weren't criticised every so often for cocking things up, who knows what they'd get away with.
Finally - someone's stood-up and said something we've all been thinking, and keeping quietly to ourselves, for some time now!
I hope Sheffield United get promoted this season - I really do!
He also looks like someone who used to work at the same place as me, before he decided he had too much money and he was too old to be stood-around in the cold, 5-days-a-week. Good ol' Richie! :D
> Apart from not a) actually calling Campbell's foul in the first place
I don't believe Campbell fouled the guy, as I've explained in another thread already. (http://ukchatforums.reserve.co.uk /display_messages.php?threadid=74185&forumid=293)
So sue me!
> or b) stopping play when the player was down
The referee is *only* entitled to stop the play for a serious injury. There was no serious injury, so play was not stopped.

> Poll did))?
I've seen the replay again today, and I'm even more convinced that it was unavoidable and "just one of those things". Poll was actually running behind and to the right of the play, and a reasonable distance from it.
The ball was cut back quickly - Poll was looking to his left so as not to get in the way of the ball, which is what he should have been doing. The midfielder came from Poll's right - the blind side - and they collided. Simple as that. Had the ball been played forwards or across the pitch, the collision wouldn't have occurred and no-one would be questioning Poll at all.
Had we not gone on to score, no-one would be mentioning the collision. Even though we did score, as Danny Mills said on last nights MOTD, there were 30 or so seconds and plenty of passes between the incident and the goal - ample time for Sheffield to get the ball back.
Don't get me wrong - it really sticks in my throat having to defend Poll in the slightest, and I still think he's a pratt... but I think far too much is being made of it.
Having said all that, it was still an unfortunate incident, and I still see no reason for Warnock to be disciplined.
"I don't actually believe that Poll made any serious errors"
Apart from not a) actually calling Campbell's foul in the first place or b) stopping play when the player was down, or...
"apart from colliding with Sheffield's midfielder. He shouldn't have been in the way of the play, and as daft as it makes him look, it *was* purely accidental"
c) managing to avoid walk right into the Sheffield Utd player (when the referee should never be running TOWARDS the ball (which is what Poll did))?
If you believe a ref is wrong then why shouldnt manager's and player's be allowed to speak out as long as it's within reason?
What Warnock said wasn't with anykind of foul language he just disagreed with Mr Poll..
Referee's aren't always right in their decisions and some of them actually have the guts to say 'I was Wrong'
I think it's a disgrace what the FA are doing - oops I better not say anything otherwise 'i'll have brought the game into disrepute'
