Watching the premiership I was amused by Alex Ferguson’s double standards. He wasn’t happy with Shearer (who granted did make a few rash challenges), but Fergie made Shearer sound like a really overly aggressive violent player, seeing as the challenge he was complaining about involved Keane (I seem to remember the odd moment of violence involving him in the past) does anyone else see the double standards?

Well the elbow was probably made to look like an accident from his point of view but he does it all the time - try and make opposition players angry and make them retaliate, I reckon he tried it with Keane today but fortunatlty Keane didn't strike back as he has done before.

Happens all the time, 2 players going for a 50/50 ball

He hit Silvestre (spelling?) on the shin pad, possible yellow for being late.

Agreed poor tackle yellow possible red.

I just wish there was more consistancy...

but I guess when ref's choose 'not to see' cetain incidents then that won't ever happen.

Yeah but bellamy is the FA's main targeet,(deservedly) so it all balances out!

Jeffers gets away with diving most teams have their cheats.

I think in the game I just watched he should have been red carded. But that is for the sliding mistimed tackle. The elbow just looked like on of the many fouls that happen in every game, yes it was a foul but not as malicious as Fergie made it out to be.

The only elbow that I have seen Shearer make that I think warranted a sending of was in the Champions league against Inter.

Yeh, but the thing is Shearer seems to get away with these kind of incidents since he's the "FA's darling" but others ala Keane/Viera will have to sit out several games because of them.

Roy as accepted he has made mistakes and has calmed down a lot since his operation, however have you ever seen Shearer come on camara to say he was at fault? yet last week he condemed the tackle on Bernard by the Everton player on camara but this week he make's 3 durty challenges which warranted a booking and a sending off.

John O'Shea now sits out 2 weeks because of Shearer's Challenge - but I guess that dosn't matter.
