Not "Word" as in "Yo hommies!"

Word as in that piece of crap Microsoft a***-bandit word processing pile of poo.

I have a report to do. It has lots of screen shots in, so it's about 30 pages. It's about 1.9MB, to big to fit on a floppy disk, so I zip it up, and all is hunky dory.

Except, I make a few chances, add in a little text, SHRINK some pictures, so they all fit nice on the page without leaving huge qhite gaps, and save it again.

2.3MB.

WTF!??!

Now the bloody thing won't fit on a disk even if I zip the f####r up!

Word!

Just save it as a Word6.0/95 file...

It'll cut the size into less than half... I have a 100k word XP file that squeezes down to 27k when saved as Word6.0/95

You'll also get the added bonus that it will load into WordXP without blinking.

Pffttt.
Window.
Gimme Appleworks any old day. It rules.

I'll bet most Windows-Mac users are people who've only just got a Mac and are scared to come away from Microsoft and into the light. It's a kinda half-way house which never goes away because they're comfortable with it's shiteness.

You could have used WinAce or winZip to create a spanned archive over two or three disks instead of emailing it...

Word can be a right pain. The size of the document often depends on the format you save it as. Not sure why it would change if you're saving twice in the same format, but if you saved it as a word 97 doc or something it would be likely to take up less space, and be virtually indistinguishable.

Don't think you can escape that way, Word is just as popular on the Mac.

It's not the machine, it's the software. Though PCs have the added disadvantage of having an operating system from the funny guys of programming.
