Arrived home from Uni and started up my PC. It stopped booting up early on. Think my C: drive may have stopped working. At the moment my dad is replacing it with another.

Means I need to re-instal my JAVA compilers and programs, other things we use, get the network working and get champ manager working again.

Pain in the rear.

A boot partition needs to be set as active for the BIOS to know to look at it for an Operating System. It's possible that somehow your partition has had active unset, but I don't see how..

You should be able to reset it using a partition manager. I'm not sure if fdisk can do it, but partition magic almost certainly will.

Its usually left on then switched off at night.
Odd thing is the drive works as a normal drive but not as the boot drive.

Any ideas why?

I learnt that on this old pc , since got the hard drive replaced with old one from the 1ghz machine.

Turning your PC on and off really does it no good at all.

One thing people have to learn... only defrag once a month and don't turn a pc on and off constantly unless your leaving it on doing nothing for long peroids.
Dunno if you did that but it seems to prolong the health of hard disks.
