The Wrestlemania series hasn't enjoyed the same all-conquering success of sister title, SmackDown!., and because of this THQ have gone back to the drawing-board, examining the best parts of both games and drawing them together into the ultimate wrasslin' game.
Updated rosters and graphics are what you'd expect from a sports (entertainment) sequel, but with XIX fundamental changes to the fighting engine have taken place. The game is faster with a much improved grapple system (how long you hold a button decides on the strength of the move), while still retaining simulation elements.
There is part-specific damage which is reflected in character animations, so if you work on your opponant's shoulders and neck, a Crippler Crossface is more likely to result in a submission. Best of all is that smaller characters cannot perform impossible moves on larger wrestlers. This means Rey Misterio will not be able to gorilla press the Big Show, as he could in previous versions.
Blood spillage returns to a wrestling game for the first time since WWF Attitude, and the single player mode features a story called 'Revenge'. It starts with you being stripped of the WWE Championship by Vince McMahon, before Stephanie steps in to give you a chance of working your way back up through the ranks to reclaim the 'ten pounds of gold' at Wrestlemania.
The game is set for a GameCube exclusive release in August, but to keep you grapple fans happy until then, here are pictures of a Rey-Rey 619, Hogan hulking-up on The Rock, Brock F5-ing the 500 lbs Big Show and Rocky taunting The 'Taker.

Wow, just look at that 619. Brilliant. And look at the actual stage. Hopefully RAW 2 will be better then this graphics wise, eh, as that's the only one coming out on PC (hopefully, anyway). Oh, and hopefully RAW 2's story mode will be better then that of this game.
