Which band or artist first brought you in to world of music? I'm talking about those that truly made you think " Yes this is the sort of music I want to listen to". Those that let you enjoy music. Maybe those that led you on to discover more bands or artists.

For me it was Nirvana. I first heard them in 1995, a year after Kurt's death. I had only ever heard what was playing on my Mam's radio at that time and I didn't pay it much attention. I didn't really care for it much. I was 10 at the time and was not too sure of things. Most of my time was spent either outside up in the woods with friends or playing computer games. We had no cable or satilitte T.V, except for my one friend but that's beside the point as we never watched it much, so I couldn't heard any bands on MTV or whatever other channals there were at that time. Then one day I was down my friends house and that's when I first heard them.

I have a hazy memory of it but of the best of my ability it was something like this. We were playing on the SNES, more than likely Street Fighter 2, when he decided to put a cd on. I don't have a clue what album it was but my first reaction was that it was just a lot of screaching. Then I listened to it for a litte longer and stared to realise that it wasn't screaming. There was a whole new type of music for me. I had never heard anything like this before as I was at such a young age and nobody I knew really listened to music. I had only ever heard what was on the radio, as I said earlier.

Suffice to say (I don't relly know what this phrase means) I went home happy. When I got my first CD player my first CD I ever brought for it was Nirvana - From the muddy banks of Whishka, and it still sit proudly in my collection.

Just thought I'd share this with everyone for no reason.

Thanks.

Cid.

I think I was exposed to either Johnny Cash or Charlie Pride and a song about a stampede with lots of whips in. I loved it at the time...

And no I am not trying to be "funny".

The other song that really got me going and I am still shamed about is Come on Eileen by those dungaree wearing yokels. I even thought that the dance was cool. I was very young and into Fergal Sharkey.

I was so gay.

Thats a good question! Very interesting.

The first song I ever listened to that got me really interested in music was Teardrop by Massive Attack. I was so impressed by what I heard that I decided to look into their music a little more, although I didn't really like the rest of their music!

My first CD was Boyzone .. *cries*.. Ick. The look on my face when I got it as a present was sickening. It's long gone now.

Since that Teardrop song, I started listening to Travis a lot. Their music was good at the time. Coldplay became my favourite band and probably still are. Mostly Indie stuff interests me a lot.

But I love music now. Especially the chillout stuff.
