But when reviewing this piece of software consumers seem to forget that inside this mean machine is a load of extras. First one of these extras is a DVD player that is made buy Sony which is great quality (I don’t think a DC has got one of those!), and if you want to buy one made by Sony of similar stature, then you’re going to have to part with about 230 quid. But that ain’t the end of the extras that Sony has decided to package with the deal, because there is more and this is the fact it is all backwards compatible. So if you have a PlayStation and you’re getting a new PS2 sell your old one because you don’t need it, as you can use all you’re PS games on your new PS2. Then there is also the fact that because it is backwards compatible you already have a library of about a thousand games in England, plus the best ever line up of new games of any consoles in history. The price of games is pretty reasonable at £40 (same as the Dreamcast) and there are already some budget games, to get hold of. Also with titles in the near future that really show off the emotion engine’s capabilities the future of gaming on this system looks very bright. Also what people don’t seem to understand at the moment is the fact that because of its emotion engine you can do things that can’t be done on any other system. For instance a game as complex as Metal Gear Solid 2 could never go on any other console in the same way as it is the PS2, because they just don’t have enough power.
Also if you think about if you are thinking of getting a DVD player and you have a PlayStation, the money for the DVD player and the selling of your PlayStation, only leaves about £40 to pay the future of gaming. So while all of you Dreamcast lovers out there are sitting in front of your console next year playing on good games but with no innovation and the same old game play. I’ll be playing the type of games that’ll be blowing peoples minds and that’ll never see the light of day on the Dreamcast, and then if I feel like play some great classics I just need to pop in my PS one disc. Then if I feel like a rest from gaming I just place in another disc and I can watch my favourite films with Dolby 5.1 sound. So in short I can play SSX, watch The Matrix and then go back to Smackdown 2 all on the same machine, that is nicely compact on my bookshelf, ain’t NEW technology lovely.

Please tell me your joking? No innovation? Man, you really don't know what your on about do you?
I mean, I like PS2 as much as the next guy, and will be acquiring one (hopefully) by Friday.

There's nothing we can say to defend the PS2 that hasn't already been said, so it's a waste of time. Which is why I haven't bothered replying to any of these posts - for a change.
It's not easy to ignore obvious lies and outlandish claims, but it's worth the effort not to rise to the bait; don't encourage them to come back!
As for them saying 'don't buy one', I didn't realise that the Earth had been secretly invaded by aliens from the planet Gameguru, who have opinions and knowledge that all us lesser beings should follow. And quite frankly if anyone comes on these forums, and makes an opinion on what console to buy from the odd (usually poorly developed and biased) comment, than they deserve what they get (can I say here that the ZX80 is the future of gaming, and is not only a lot cheaper than the PS2, it's cheaper than the PS2 games - available from all good car boot sales).
I can empathise why it winds you up, and I wish I could say 'just ignore them, they'll go away eventually'. The unfortunate thing is that they don't.
