Went to my mate's a couple of hours ago, and his 13 year old brother and three mates were there, drinking Stella and Bacardi Breezer. Even my mate, a known alcoholic, waited until he was 14 to start drinking, and I was 15 when I first started knocking back the goodness (wait, that makes me sound like a female pornstar...)
Not only that, but he left to go and have sex with a girl his age, who's already been around the block a few times.

I never did the cider thing. Being 15, I was a late starter when it came to drink, and everyone else had already moved onto lager, so I skipped cider and went to Carling (urgh... but, hey, it was cheap)
On a related note, saw my sister today, she's a teacher and some of the kids in her class are drug dealers. Bear in mind that she's a PRIMARY school teacher and the kids in her class are 7 and 8 years old. The youth of the nation is lost.

Ice cold proper home made cider can be nice.
Can be nice, almost never is.
And the smell of the stuff makes me feel ill too. Bad incident with downing two litres of it to make the taste in my mouth go away.

Yep. Can put you off drinking forever. That's why it's a good place to start, shows how serious you are about the whole thing.
Bah, cider is the devils drink. Its horrible.
Good. It's how I did it too. Many a summer day was lost in the mists of 3 litres of Stongbow for £3.
