Does anyone out there play their Dreamcast on a PC monitor? I've been thinking of trying this out but I'd rather have some indication of how successful it is before I do.

On the same subject, consoles are getting to the point where they are being graphically limited by the TVs they will be running on. This isn't a problem with the approaching generation (XBox et al) but what about the next batch or (more likely) the ones that follow them? Surely people won't think 'right, that's as good as graphics can get' and just leave it at that. Something will have to change.

Will we get to a point where, to get the most out of our game systems, we need to buy specialist monitors to play them on? Surely the Dreamcast lead I'm considering is some indication that we are heading this way.

Will we get to a point where games have the option to run at different resolutions and levels of graphical detail intensity depending on what they are being viewed on? Nothing complex, like in the PC world, just a selection from a couple of different TV-types/definitions or something.

How would you feel about buying a console and monitor pack?

Actually, there isn't a problem. As it stands, consoles can make more polygons than polygons, yet do not look anywhere near as good as real life (ie, programs on TV) even though they use the same monitor. Extra console power will simply go to improved lighting and details, so that textures are truely non-recursive. It's this kind of thing that is the future for graphics.

Saying that, there are still some very adventurous companies going in the opposite direction- making graphics nothing like real life. For example, Jet Set radio and capcom's 2d fighters. Personally, I prefer that companies make graphics to suite a game rather than have everything being realistic.

Whatever happened to that Dreamcast Card? ...

Sega were saying they were going to release a card to stick in the back of a PC (or maybe disk drive port?) to allow you to play DreamCast games on the PC? ...

Remember the PC/Megadrive hybrid?

There is no real point doing this. I think a scart cable helps but I heard Sega are releasing a dreamcast for the pc for like £50. This is bad for me

Consoles are already limited by our TV sets, thats why we get such awfull flickering while playing PS2 and Dreamcast Games...I used to get the same problem while playing HiRes games on my Amiga,....The answer is to replace our TV systems with nice new HiRes digital ones.
