It might be of interest to some of the dwellers of the Classic and Retro forum, that there is a UK based group comprising approx 125 members, dedicated to the preservation, collecting, discussion and playing of classic console and computer games.

The group was started in about 1996 and the main emphasis was the "true" classic era of home videogaming, from about 1977/78 - Atari 2600, thru to the Vectrex and subsequent crash of 1984.

Nowadays, these topics are still discussed, but also included are later classics, ie NES to Megadrive, and most gaming/computing topics are fair game.

The group has communicated by means of a mailing list up until now, but new web based forums have literally just been launched.

Freeola host our website which provides information about the annual UK classic gaming convention.

This hasn't been updated since the last event in 2000, and will be updated when Britmeet 4 is announced later this year, but the site will give you a taste of what its all about.

If you have at least a passing interest in gaming history then mail me at [email protected] for more info. There are no membership charges.

Cheers,
Richard
