I am in the process of applying for the police force and today is my “assessment”. This isn’t a really formal part of the application and I wont be the only applicant there. I am however a little nervous about the whole thing and I imagine that I will probably be the youngest person there.
According to my confirmation letter this will involve 8 5-minute tests and one longer one, each testing a different skill that a police officer requires. Most of the 5 minute tests involve some sort of role-play and we will be judged on our reactions and how we deal with certain situations.
Why can’t they have these things in the afternoon? I’m exhausted.
Anyway, I just hope it goes well seeing as how it has taken around 4 months too get this far into the application process I would hate to have to start again now.

Most people feel nervous when confronted with the word test, especially when it will affect the rest of your career.

I'm not applying to the London force.

Thanks :D And thanks to everyone that wished me luck.
Anyway, I’m back (as you may have guessed) and it was different to what I was expecting.
The written test was basically extracting info from 4 statements, not too difficult.
Then we had to do some role-plays. This involved reading a brief and some relevant info you will need about the situation that will be presented to you through the door, you have 1.30mins to read this. E.g. you are the manager of a supermarket and you have set up a meeting with a female member of staff that has a complaint about a male member of staff. You then have 5 minutes of role-play with an actor and are judged on how you handle the situation.
It wasn’t to bad, I think I did ok in it. Oh well, I guess I wont know until I get my results next week sometime.
