As my views are too 'controversial'

My view on the new schools in out town went something along the lines of saying it is wrong that a private company is building the new schools and not the government as people shouldn't make a profit from education.

No Sheepy

Instead we get morons getting there views

" New schools should be great, this one sucks!!!!! "

And today I wrote a few hundred words on my views of the Iraq issue. I clearly stated the hypocrisy in America and Britain, talking about support for war in Iran, gave facts and figures of weapons sold to Iraq, including anthrax. Attacked Donald Rumsfeld and his cronies as well as suggesting reasons for war including the big dollar contracts to rebuild Iraq and a boost in the arms industry.

Of course this was cut out and they posted one sentance of my view

" It is dangerous for Britain and America to defy the UN "

That's it, while countless of other views by knobs were

" It's for oil, thats bad "
" I think the war is right, Saddam is evil "
" Innocent people get killed "

I wasted an hour checking my facts and writing a really good piece, the teacher said he may need to cut 'some' out for space. I wasn't happy but never complained, I got once sentence.

His reasons.... 'too controversial Craig'. I called him a Fascist and stormed off home and now I feel like taking over the magazine but screw that.

I remember being asked to write for the school quarterly magazine by my English teacher because I "showed potential".

I wrote about the Aryan ideals of building better people through exercise and physical punishment, as demonstrated by our compulsory games/PE lesson despite pleas from some that they didn't enjoy it.

They refused to print it and wanted to suspend me, the school governing body got involved and my passion for voicing my views was born.

They didn't print it but I didn't get suspended.

I wrote "The year that was" for our yearbook when I was at school, the publishers refused to publish it unedited as it was too libellous. There was a whole paragraph on Fergie's toejob and other Royal shockers, amongst other things.

Yes indeedy, in our "Mayflower Mail" the only entertainment review that made it (not that I entered, I'm too lazy) was by a Year 9, where he gave Nightfire 10 out of 10, and it went something like this.

"Nightfire has really good graphics and really good sound. Its also very realistic which is good."

And so forth.

Humm.

If you don't conform to the school then you're the outcast. Can't have views that are intelligent, might make the teachers look bad. Also might upset the parents. And they say adults won't listen to us.

How much space did articles about the war take up?

Add irony and try to get it printed in your school mag.

Our school had a yearbook, the team who produced it had to check everything with a teacher.
In my final year one guy added stuff in at the last minute before sending off for printing, which got him in a spot of bother but it was more than worth it.

Remember that most kids here are either thick, stoned or share the views of what the papers tell them.

Perhaps an article on the censorship and lack of free speech in school magazines should be your next task.
