Anyone use this and fairly good at creating things in it?

Got to do a graphics project and this is one of the options we can use to create it.
Any help, links or someone to ask things to would be appreciated.

To produce a 3d landscape.

In java you would need to define the surfaces, hidden line removal, shading etc to try create it.
With the 3d modelling package you just add the objects and move them to how you want them to appear. Then export them to mess around with various other packages to get it the way you want it.

What is your project out of interest, as Java and 3D modelling packages are about as different as it's possible to be :o

Our course is all about graphics in JAVA, would take to long to teach us all to do it in C++ but the basic principles are all there.

We can do it in Java, VRML or using a 3d modelling package.

I can only guess that they use VRML as they have the software on the PC's to use it. That and the fact that teaching something totally new and much harder would take too long and may not benefit everyone.
