1.2 billion given to help war.
I'll let that sink in.
1.2 billion.

Yet the NSPCC is charity funded, desperate for help and operates almost hand-to-mouth.
The ability to wipe out child-abuse forever in this country, to provide help and safety for desperate kids being beaten, tortured and murdered by the very people that are supposed to protect and love them.
Charity funded.

This makes me absolutely furious.
"Sorry, tortured and abused kids ain't worthy of solving with adequate funding....oh, but an unjustified war that has already claimed Allied lives at the hands of their own side and bombed a bus, a marketplace and injured over 300 civilians?
Suuure! Have 1.2 billion!!!!

I am ashamed.

Why are the people at the top, the ones with real power, always incompassionate arrogant utter-and-complete b*stards?

War! Huh! What is it good for? Absolutely nothing!

Quite fitting.

Worse still, the $8bn that Bush has set aside for International Relief for Iraq doesn't all find it's way to Iraq. Only a third of this goes to them, then the rest goes to Pakistan, Jordan, the Philippines, Columbia, Egypt, Afghanistan and some eastern European countries, that I can't think of right now.

Columbia??? Egypt????????? The mind boggles...

The US/UK have already spent nearly as much cash on ordinance and chemical suits than Iraq is going to get to repair it's blasted infrastructure. So the taxpayer pays for them to blow it up, then to rebuild it. I''m a little fuzzy on the logic behind that one, I'll leave it to somebody else to rationalise that....

Interestingly, Ankara is getting $1bn in aid as well, despite all of the problems Turkey caused. Of course, it's not the $6bn that they would have got if they had allowed US troops in, but it'll do.

It's suggested that the US deficit could go over $400bn, and a taxpayer watchdog in the US has provided figures that show the war could end up costing the US taxpayer more than $550bn over the next ten years. That assumes that the war is over by May 2003.

To put that in perspective, only eleven countries in the world have a higher yearly GNP than $550bn, and yet it takes the GNP of 81 poorer countries to make that figure in a year.

All of this money to maim and kill, and one sixth of the worlds population does not have access to clean drinking water.
