NVida themselves have been quoted as saying that the graphics chip inside the X-Box is 2 generations ahead of their current GeForce2 and since a new generation 3D card tends to pop up every 6 months or so, by the time the X-Box get into the market, the same spec or better graphics card with be avalible for purchase.
Also by which time a P3 733 Mhz PC will be out of date. besides, havnt Microsoft decided to use a slower chip?
DVD drives are already popular enough for magazines to be producing DVD versions. DVD drives themselves are already dirt cheap.
You'll be hard pressed to get a res of 1920x1080 on a good 17 inch monitor and you'll have no chance of getting that res on a TV screen. its just a max available spec. Not a expected standard.
I'm not trying to have a go at the X-Box. I'm very interested in its progress and am a potential customer. But I'm not going to lie to myself that its better than it actually is.
