That's right - handed in my notice of Monday and now have until April 11th to work.

Feels a bit scary at the moment - most of you know that I am probably one of the oldest - if not the oldest person who post's here - Far to old and sensible to be wasting my time posting on internet chat forums - in May I will no longer be in my thirties !

The main reason for doing it is for the girls. Over the last few years they have gone from Childminder to nanny to nursery to childminder to nanny to after school club with the odd bit of grandparent assistance in there from time to time to look after them. It isn't the best way for them to be brought up and we hace decided that they need some stability in there lives.

My wife is a real diamond and I love her to bits. She has been very succesfull in her career to the state that she has just received a pay award which means she now earns almost three times what I do so it is sensible for me to become the "House husband" what a horrible term that is but hey - I suppose I will be saddled with that label from now on.

I have never not worked - I have been fortunate enough to have been employed since the day I left school and when I have faced the inevitable redundancy that plagues industry nowaday's I have always managed to walk into a new job straight away. The job I am doing now is the longest single term of employment I have had - 8 years with the same company - wow...

Also - most of you know that I am a Christian and that I lead worship playing guitar and singing in my church and it is something that I really enjoy and know that I am good at - because people have told me. Hopefully I will be able to spend some of the spare time that I will have while the girls are at school practising more and improving and at some stage I do plan to take some of the song writing that me and the better half have been dabbling with to the next level - hey - your'e never to old you know !

The real scary thing is that I will no longer have that security blanket of work - it is a stablising thing in most peoples lives - however much we don't like it - it brings in an income and gives a regularity to our lives that we can sometimes need when things don't go exactly as planned. I am going to rely on my partners earnings to feed me, clothe me, warm me etc. A position I have never been in before and something that I really don't know if I will find difficult to deal with or not. I hope that it sit's easily with me and that I can feel relaxed with life.

Yes I will be doing the mundane stuff - cleaning, washing, ironing etc but I will also be doing alot of stuff around the garden and the house that we have had to put off for years because we just have not had the time with both of us working.

Well that's about it then - now you know a lot more about me than you ever did before. The last thing is that as I will not be working in 2 1/2 weeks time then I very much doubt that I will be posting at SR anymore as nearly all of my posting has been done from work. I will probably pop in and have a look when I go to buy something from them but I suppose this is also a good bye from me in a way.

This is a happy and nervous Flanders signing off...

Hehe, nah, good luck mate, and make sure you do pop in from time to time. Whatever you're doing I'm sure you've made the right choice, and it's been nice chatting to ya.

Peace out dude. {:)

Damn that Wookie....

Thanks for the kind words. The pleasure has all been mine whilst I have been here - it certainly has brought some sanity and fun into what has often been a very mundane daily experience in this damn office.

I'm off to Kelkoo now - need to find the best price for an apron..

Booooo! Damn Flanders!

As far as I'm concerned, it'll be a major loss for the forums.

Best of luck to you, though. I shall miss our occasional *ahem* 'intellectual' conversations.

The nappy-changing is okay, but too much info on the housework... I now have visions of you as one of the 'housewives' on the Bounty adverts...

Ewwwww...

All the best!

Good luck Flanders. It won't be all bad. Just think of all the lovely nappy changing and vomit cleaning that you have to look forward to...

Similar position Flanders.

I have a meeting today at 4pm.
I'm wondering about handing in my notice anyway and doing something fun with my daylight hours.

*thinks*

It's the money-security that work provides, I've never not worked either.
But at the end of the day, I work hard when I have something to do and wont find it a problem getting another job.
I have old fashioned values of honour and morals, and I've been jerked around since Xmas here to the point where I am now considering resigning, I feel I've been put into this position.

Rock and Roll.

Well what can I say Flanders, I wish you and your family all the best for the future. I'd read about you leaving work yesterday and had been expecting this although I wondered whether you may post from home.

Nice to hear your taking a greater responsibilty to your children and yes "House Husband" does sound horrible but I'm sure most people on here will salute you for being honest :)

Good luck for the future again and make sure you come back here whenever you can otherwise Ros will go maaaaaaaaad ;)
