So do you partake in playing those 'Christmas hits' or do you try to keep as far away from them as possible?
I must admit I did burn the muppet Christmas Carol soundtrack and a few other tracks to a cd for the car and the wife puts the standard Christmas album on in the house.
As for pop music, that's a whole new topic. I wouldn't even try lumping all popular music in together like that. I understand what you mean by manufactured music, though even that has a purpose and there have been some good tunes that come from this stable.
There are so many Christmas songs out there that don't get played on the radio though, from Gloria Estafan's Love on Layaway to the folky sounding Christmas Lights. Instead we get Band Aid again and again.
Although there is the odd one that amuses me. The Screaming Santas are a good laugh, and Bob Rivers' Twisted Christmas had me in stitches. I guess that a bit of yuletide comedy is passable; especially if it's a little inappropriate.
