Couldn't find the thread where Ace Combat 4 was first mentioned, but if you've checked out the video at www.ps2web.com, then check out these screenshots...

Never seen graphics like that before - the scenery is like a photograph.

I've been a fan of the Ace Combat games on psx they're so much easier too play and live with than pc based fighter pilot sims (crashing more often than Mig pilot after a liquid lunch).

These screen shots are good, matching pc quality graphics, and without the hassle of crowbar-ing more ram into your pc, and hopefully maintaining the playability of previous games.

cool

At first I thought it was a photo! The only giveaway is the slightly jagged edge to certain parts of the aircraft. Luckily its hard to notice, especially when you are looking so hard at the fantastic visuals.

I had the first game in this series on PS1, and it was a very simple arcade air combat game - not really a 'sim'. Very similar to Sega's Afterburner and G-Loc, and every bit as addictive.

Hopefully, with the power of the new machine, they'll be able to put a bit more into the new version. Takeoffs and landings would be nice, albeit in a simplified form to a 'real' flight sim, to match the more arcadey gameplay. There's no point having a brilliant mission only to crash on landing and have to do it again!

.......... I don't know what to say. Breathtaking...?
That has to be some of the best graphics that I've seen on any system. The backgounds are like photos and the planes ain't half bad either.
If it plays as good as it looks, it'll be in my collection!

I posted the original ps2web movie link!

Can't remember the topic but it may have been xbox/ps2 battle related....

The movie is cool; the stills you mentioned were available earlier and are just amazing.
